Does it only work on phones? No. It works in any modern browser that provides geolocation over HTTPS, although phones and cellular tablets usually provide the best updates.
If the popup does not appear
- Use the site settings icon beside the address bar.
- Set Location to Allow and reload.
- On iPhone, also check Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Safari.
- Use HTTPS or localhost; location is blocked on ordinary HTTP pages.
Phone or cellular tablet
Recommended outdoors while moving.
Laptop or desktop
May use Wi-Fi location instead of GPS, so speed can remain unavailable or inaccurate.
For a reliable reading
- Allow precise location access.
- Use the tool outdoors with a clear sky view.
- Wait until accuracy improves below 50 m.
- Never operate the screen while driving.
